Insurance

I’m in-network with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina, Aetna, Carelon, and Cigna. If your plan is one of these, you’ll pay your usual copay or coinsurance.

If your plan isn’t listed, you may still be able to use out-of-network benefits. See below.

If I am out-of-network for you

Many plans reimburse a portion of out-of-network mental health care. I provide a superbill — an itemized receipt with the codes your insurer needs — that you submit for reimbursement. Three questions to ask your plan before we start:

  • Do I have out-of-network outpatient mental health benefits?

  • What is my out-of-network deductible, and how much of it have I met?

  • What percentage of the allowed amount is reimbursed after the deductible, for CPT codes 90847 (family or couples with the client present) and 90837?

A note specific to couples work: some plans do not reimburse relationship counseling unless one partner carries a qualifying diagnosis. That is an insurance rule, not a clinical one, and I'll be straightforward with you about how it applies to your situation.

  • Payment is due at the time of session. Credit, Debit, HSA, and FSA cards accepted.

  • Cancellations: Please give at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations and missed sessions are charged the full session fee. Insurance does not cover or reimburse cancellation fees.

  • Sliding scale: A limited number of reduced-fee slots are available. Ask about availability on your first call.

Good Faith Estimate

Under the federal No Surprises Act, clients who are uninsured or not using insurance have the right to a Good Faith Estimate of expected cost. You'll receive one in writing before we begin, and you can request one at any time.

Still not sure what this would cost you?

Ask on the first call. I would rather answer it directly than have you guess.
